Week Nine, Blogging for Business

After reading the lecture and text book assignment, write a blog post explaining how personal you think you can be on your blog. When does it make sense to add personality to a post, and when does it not?

To answer the question on “how personal can you be on your blog”, well, I think it depends on the type of blog.  If you have a personal blog for yourself or even a personal business I think it is ok to get personal and have personality.  People follow you because of who you are, your personality and like to hear about events in your life.  It’s kind of like a reality television show where people get invested in their every move.  This person can also decide how personal they want to be and share with their followers.

On the other hand, if you are blogging on behalf of a big business that represents more than just one person it can be a bit sensitive.  You have to remember you are representing the company’s image.  I think in that case the blog should be more professional and the blogger should not be as open about personal issues or subjects.  However, I do feel personality is good on any blog no matter what type, as that is what I feel that helps creates followers.

Week 8- Sunday Night

Examples of businesses similar to mine and their visual social media.

In searching for business similar to mine I found a few companies that are similar in the fact that they make wine holders or cellars.   A few are using everything such as twitter, facebook, youtube, google+, pinterest and even houzz.
These examples were http://vigilantinc.com

The closest almost exact type of company I found is http://www.naturalrockdesigns.com and surprisingly they only have a blog.  The last one I found http://www.artcraftonline.com  does have facebook.

For first 2 businesses I looked up it seems that all of these platforms are working for them; however, I feel it really takes someone working full time to create successful platforms like these.  Especially on twitter…some businesses seem like they tweet every second to stay on top.

I still feel victual platforms can work for my business.

Week 8 Get Visual

The visual networks - are they right for you and your brand?

I personally think that people respond to better to pictures or video and definitely create more interest and curiosity of a product or service.   It’s like the saying that people hear with their eyes.  I feel that people pay more attention when there is visual stimulation involved.

I feel that some visual networks could work my business.  To compare the four most widely used visual platforms according to the lecture are FaceBook, YouTube, Google+, and LinkedIn.  I feel that Facebook is good for my business to connect with others, create interest and drive people to the website.  I like how you can post pictures and even videos on this one platform.  YouTube could also work depending on what information we decide to put out there.  We could video the process of making the wine rocks and also describe the different type’s rocks in each piece.  I am not very familiar with Google+, but for what I have seen it reminds me of Facebook.  I feel that LinkedIn is more of a professional site for people not businesses such as mine that make pieces of art.  I know that there are business on there so I suppose connecting with businesses or people that could use your product or service is the same as connecting with them on the other platforms.

Overall, I suppose all of them could work when used correctly.  : )

Week Seven: Twitter

Week Seven: Twitter

I used the following words in my search to find people, businesses to follow.
Wine
Wineries
Southern California Wineries
Wine Décor
Wine Racks
I found this to be a little difficult because the wine rocks are very heavy and are best for people on the west coast.  I found a lot of people in NY. I then had to put in Temecula, San Diego or Southern California in the search to try to localize it more.

I also created the following lists.
1.     Wineries & Restaurants
This one is self explanatory.  There are lot of wineries that can go in this category.  I also wanted to include restaurants that are wine bars or fine establishments where people enjoy wine with dinner.

2.     Home Decor, Magazines, Publicity
This category is a bit broader.  I wanted to include home décor because these pieces are great additions to one’s home.  Plus thy can be used in model homes.  Magazines & Publicity I wanted to include actual magazines, but also people such as talk shows for publicity.

I am still trying to figure out the lists on twitter.  I do understand how to make the lists and that they make you more organized of who you are following; however, wouldn’t you tweet something to everyone not just one list?

I chose some wineries as the business to like on my page.  I feel that the customers who like wine would be the same customers that would like to purchase a wine rock.  I would hope that through liking these pages it will create traffic to my page and in turn website.
I also added 3 scheduled posts for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week.  I pose questions about what type of wine they like and ask where to they store thier wine.  I hope to get some feedback and interest with these questions.

Week 5- Facebook Page Components

This weeks assignment is to define the difference between post reach and post engagement.

Why is knowing the difference important?
Also to define the terms, describe how can a business can use Facebook Insights to better serve their customers.

Post Reach: Total Reach is the number of unique people who have seen any content associated with your Page, including ads, during the last 7 days. Post Reach shows the number of unique people who have seen your Page posts.

Post Engagement: People Engaged is the number of unique people who have clicked, liked, commented on or shared your posts during the last 7 days. Likes, Comments, Shares and Post Clicks show the totals for these actions during the last 7 days.

These are different in the since that Post Engagement show how many people took the time to clicked, liked or commented on the post.  Rather than Post Reach only shows how many people saw your post.

Facebook Insights is a pretty powerful tool for those wanting to track user interaction on their Facebook Fan Page. Facebook Insights can be seen by all the admins of your page and it can help you track the number of active users to better understand page performance.

You can use Page Insights to understand how people are engaging with your Page. With Page Insights, you can:
  • View metrics about your Page's performance
  • Learn which posts have the most engagement
  • See data about when your audience is on Facebook
For example, you can look at each of your posts and see which ones have the most likes, comments and shares and the least negative feedback. You can use this information to create more of the types of posts that your audience is interested in seeing. You can also learn about when your audience is on Facebook and publish your posts when you're likely to reach more people.
